I’ve been a fan of Hapa Hale for years now, even before I randomly ran into blogger Leigh several years ago and said, “You’re ‘Hapa Hale’?” Well, Leigh just revamped her blog and I’m in love all over again. For those of you asking what all the hype is about, Leigh debuted HapaHale.com in 2006 and describes it as “one girl’s guide to all the modern island goodness from hawai’i”. And it’s true, Hapa Hale always has the latest in island-made and island-inspired fashion, decor and design. If you’re a local gal living away from the Islands or a gal that loves everything Hawaii, you…
One of our favorite Lancaster children models came to our Pittsburgh studio to visit and get her Spring 2010 pictures done. She was a ton of fun as always!!! She told me she needed a weekend vacation from her two newborn twin brothers, but she was glad to go home and help mommy take care of them. We can not wait to photograph the entire family in a few weeks. But for now here are a few of our favorites from Rye’s session in Pittsburgh. Enjoy and thank you for looking. Our resident Hawaii Bride, Kristina, is in love with Portland… and so am I! After 5 years in Oregon, I admit that I sometimes long to escape the sunny skies of Honolulu for a weekend of drizzle, boots and boutique shopping. Here are a few more bits from her latest trek, plus a peek at Kristina’s latest venture! Now, I know that I sound like a broken record, but I just love the care and craft that goes into handmade items. Last month during my trip to Portland, while trying to find an obscure brewery, I walked into the sweetest little bag shop: Queen Bee Creations . The shop consisted of a little storefront, while just beyond the shelves was the actual …

Ultra gorgeous gowns from Maria Karin’s 2010 wedding dress collection. Above: angelic empire line Moliere with gossamer overlay ; below: Cruise gown with luxurious shiny, sparkly tiers of lace. A more common style, but very pretty nonetheless. This one’s called Celine. This high-neck halter style A-line gown, called Brahms, is reminiscent of an elegant qipao . Never seriously considered an off shoulder number before, but I just went to a wedding where the bride wore one and looked absolutely fabulous. This one’s called Angelou. Magical mystery tier – spaghetti straps, structured bodice, lashings of bling and pleats on Munich. If you’ve got ‘em, flounce ‘em — Kerouac dress with a bouquet of dramatic, asymmetric ruffles. Ending on a high note — Bach dress with a beautiful chapel length train. For information on how to purchase these and more visual candy, check
