Have you ever wished you had that awesome accessory for your pictures or kicked yourself later because you were going to buy it but never did. I hear this at a lot of the weddings we photograph and even though we get awesome photos, it would be nice to have some fun stuff in the photos. I always feel weird bringing the props, so I leave that up to the bride and groom. Check out what I found today while playing around on facebook. http://www.bright-night.com/ Pretty cool umbrella that lights. I think this would be fun for some really cool night shots or late evening right before the sun goes down. I…
Are you making preparations for an outdoor wedding? An outdoor wedding is an exciting event that you will always remember. There is no scenery more beautiful than what you can find outside. Whether you hold your wedding at the beach, in the mountains or in your own backyard, you can enjoy the beauty of an outdoor wedding. Nature provides excellent decorations with trees and flowers. However, there are a few things that you can do to add to the beauty of an outdoor wedding. One of the best outdoor wedding decorating ideas is the ceremony arch. This is a beautiful piece that adds that special touch to your outdoor wedding. It is a very important decoration because it will be the focal point of the wedding. How simple or extravagant you want the arch to be is entirely up to you, but you have many options when it comes to decorating it. Flowers and ribbons can be wrapped around the arch to match the theme of the wedding. Bows add a nice touch along with any other ideas that you can come up with. A red carpet through the center of the aisle leading the way for the bride to meet her groom is an excellent touch, and it…
Our Best of Hawaii week continues with our favorite places to see and things to do during your Hawaii destination wedding… When it comes to Diamond Head, my favorite view isn’t from a beachfront hotel in Waikiki, it’s from up in the mountains. Way up. Some of Hawaii’s best hikes are right outside of Waikiki and when we mean right outside, we’re talking a 10 minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Kalakaua Avenue to just you, the birds and tropical forest as far as the eye can see. I love hiking and I don’t nearly get out and enjoy Hawaii enough as I should- I gues when you’re born and raised in the same place for years, you just don’t see the beauty you’re surrounded by the way an outsider does. Shame on me. This past weekend I rediscovered the beauty of Oahu with a Sunday morning hike up Wa’ahila Ridge, about 10 minutes from Waikiki. Just to give you an idea of how close this is, here’s an image from Waikiki looking up towards the Ko’olau Mountains- Wa’ahila ridge to the left and Maunalani Heights to the right… (photo by Kaleo ) (photo by bigkgbguy ) A group hike is the perfect way to get your bridesmaids, groomsmen, friends and family out for the day and, best thing of all, it’s free! Take St. Louis Heights drive up to the top at Wa’ahila Ridge State Park and after mere minutes of venturing through dense forest like this, you’l emerge with beautiful views of Honolulu below… (photo by mash.ALOHA ) Along the way there are several grassy areas perfect for a picnic… Speaking of which, picking up ahi salad, papaya curry and bread pudding from Diamond Head …
We’re wrapping up our Best of Hawaii week with our favorite ways to spend a day in Hawaii. Grab your bridemaids and get your Beau and his groomsmen together and hit the road! For the Girls… Hit the Road! You’ve got a rental car and miles of unexplored roadway in paradise… so load up your gals and hit the road! There’s nothing more exhilarating than no plan at all, so take a day to discover hole-in-the-wall restaurants, hip boutiques and secluded beaches. Pack a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, camera, a cooler full of drinks and an extra change of clothes because you may start your day at the beach and end it on the top of a mountain! Take a drive out to Oahu’s North Shore and go all the way to the end of the road at Mokuleia. Or drive up the Waianae Coast to the end of the road at Ka’ena on Oahu’s west shore. A drive up the cool slopes of Pupukea on the North Shore, Tantalus just above Honolulu or up Old Pali Road to the Pali Lookout will provide you with a totally different view of Hawaii. We love driving along winding roads through Hawaii’s mountains- the chill in the air, the smell of white ginger and eucalyptus, the endless tree canopy above. Instead of connecting your iPod, tune your car radio to a Hawaiian music station to get you in the mood. Stop at every roadside…
I’m on Martha Stewart Weddings’ mailing list and every morning I wake up to a lovely email about constructing your own paper flowers, the hot bridesmaid dress of the month and on and on. Sunday’s actually caught my eye: ‘65 Ways to Trim Your Wedding Budget’ . I thought I’d share a few of my fave especially for that Hawaii wedding you’re planning… Tip #1: Signature Drink I always thought signature drinks were a little corny, an idea the bride unwillingly thrusts upon the groom, drinks with syrupy sweet names like. But as Martha points out, serving a signature drink cuts down on the costs of having a full bar. Serve wine, beer and a signature drink to keep your beverage costs down. Plus, who can resist a ‘My Guy Mai Tai’ or a ‘You’re My Boo Malibu and Pineapple’? Okay, I totally made those up, but you get the point. Tip #5: Buy Local Ingredients I’m a big big fan of buying local! I’m all about the Farmer’s Market, supporting restaurants that use local ingredients… buying local keeps money in our local economy and local food just tastes better! And when you’re in Hawaii, we’re talking about abalone from the Big Island, grass-fed beef from Oahu’s North Shore and goat cheese from Maui. Ask your caterer about ‘Going Local’! Tip #15: Repurpose Your Wedding Flowers This is a great tip. Have your coordinator, or deisgnate a bridesmaid, to move and repurpose flowers and decor from your ceremony to your reception. Aisle and pew flowers can be…
I suggest to have a look to this intersting wedding video on Youtube . It is a reportage from a Nikaah marriage celebrated in New York. The rite Nikaah is the more classic muslim rite , to be compared with the lifetime celebrations of other religions. It is similar to a christian rite, not only for luxury, big cars, eating and making photographs. I was impressed by the vegetal decorations on the bride’s suite which seems to be related with a simbolic donation. Another similitude with the western rites is the veil: I am italian and in the catholic rite the veil covers the bride’s face , in the meaning of something to be discovered. This muslim ritual is interesting because the veil is on the groom’s face , in the meaning of somethig to be shown to him. Very interesting: I have seen and heard this quite long video 2-3 times also for the nice arab wedding music.
