I suggest to have a look to this intersting wedding video on Youtube . It is a reportage from a Nikaah marriage celebrated in New York. The rite Nikaah is the more classic muslim rite , to be compared with the lifetime celebrations of other religions. It is similar to a christian rite, not only for luxury, big cars, eating and making photographs. I was impressed by the vegetal decorations on the bride’s suite which seems to be related with a simbolic donation. Another similitude with the western rites is the veil: I am italian and in the catholic rite the veil covers the bride’s face , in the meaning of something to be discovered. This muslim ritual is interesting because the veil is on the groom’s face , in the meaning of somethig to be shown to him.
